THIRD DISTRICT – On the anniversary of Roe vs. Wade, State Senator Kelly Morrison (DFL-SD45) today announced that the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) has endorsed her campaign for Congress in MN-03. ACOG is the premier professional organization for OB-GYNs, with 60,000 members nationwide.
Morrison, a practicing OB-GYN, has led the fight to improve health care for women in Minnesota. She passed legislation to protect reproductive rights in the state, and also passed a bill extending health insurance for new moms on Medicaid from just 60 days to 12 months.
If elected, Morrison will be the only pro-choice OB-GYN in Congress.
“Dr. Morrison has been an invaluable asset for reproductive healthcare in our state,” said Dr. Erin Stevens from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. “Her real-world knowledge as an OB/Gyn physician helped her lead the fight for abortion rights and ensure all Minnesotans truly have bodily autonomy and practical access to care. Additionally, she has passed bills to improve the well-being of individuals and communities across a span of key issues, including the environment, mental health, gun control, prescription drug prices, education, the opioid crisis, and healthcare disparities. As a fellow OB/Gyn physician and mother, I am so proud to have her representation and passionate leadership. We will miss her advocacy on the state level but can't wait to see what she does in Congress! Let's put this doctor in the House!”
“I’m honored to have the support of my fellow physicians,” Morrison said. “We need more voices in Congress who understand firsthand the importance of protecting reproductive freedom, and who are willing to champion and pass legislation that can make a real difference for women and families.”
In November, Morrison announced the endorsements of more than 25 OB-GYNs in Minnesota. She is also endorsed by Women Winning and more than 30 leaders from MN-03 and across the state.
